Quick answer
Weeping Creek Valley is the opening region, with 23 bells, 7 weapons and Phantom Edges, and the first Long Pillar. Before you leave, finish the first objective of A Severed Mindseal and start Flesh Lily. Three optional areas hold the bells that complete the map.

This is where you learn the systems, and it's easy to leave too soon. The main path is short compared with what's hiding off it: the optional Crimson Manor, the Sha-Chi Tower and the first Long Pillar all sit here.
What to know before you start
- Don't skip the Long Pillar. The Weeping Creek Long Pillar is the first of five you need for the True Ending. A Rusted Loong Key opens the way to its bell.
- Reveal the whole map. Three optional areas hold the bells that finish this map: the northern lower valley, Creek Valley Plains and the route southwest of the Outpost.
- Plan ahead for Crimson Forest. Purge the Sect, Festering Secrets and Apprentice Healer start around here but fail in the next region.
