Phantom Blade Zero Weapons and Phantom Edges

How main weapons and Phantom Edges work in Phantom Blade Zero, the weapons officially named so far, the basic controls, and how Sha-Chi fits in, all from official sources.

Phantom Blade Zero gives Soul two kinds of weapons. Main weapons (主武器) do most of the fighting, and you carry two at a time. Phantom Edges (奇诡武装) are secondary weapons, mostly won from bosses, with special uses in and out of combat. This page covers how both work and lists the weapons officially named so far.

It's built only from official material: the store page and developer articles. That means it's not a full weapon list or a tier ranking yet. We'll add weapons and how to get them once each one can be checked.

Main weapons

You equip two main weapons and switch between them during a fight (left on the D-pad on PS5). You can chain attacks from both into one combo, so the pair you bring matters as much as each weapon on its own.

Weapons officially named so far:

WeaponTypeWhat it does

White SerpentDual-wielded swordsHas its own combo string. Pairs with Crimson Viper for different effects

The PlayStation Blog's October 2026 feature also mentions weapon effects such as making enemies bleed for extra damage and siphoning life from them.

Why this list is short

The game has more than 30 main weapons, but only these have been named and described in the official articles we've checked. We'll add more as we confirm each name, its Chinese equivalent and how you get it. We won't rank weapons we haven't verified.

Phantom Edges

Phantom Edges are secondary weapons, many of them taken from bosses you defeat. The developer describes them as having "specific but limited uses": they are powerful, but you can't lean on them the way you do your main weapons.

They also matter for exploration. Some paths are blocked until you have the right Phantom Edge. The examples given officially are smashing through a barrier and grappling up to a distant spot. If a route seems closed, you may simply not have the right Phantom Edge yet, and coming back later can open it.

The English and Chinese store pages both say there are "more than 20" Phantom Edges (二十多门). The developer's August 2026 overview gives an exact count of 25. Both figures are pre-release, so treat the number as roughly two dozen.

Basic controls on PS5

These are the default PS5 inputs given in the October 2026 feature. The game offers three button layouts on PS5 and more flexible remapping on PC, so yours may differ.

Sha-Chi, Sha-Chi Essence and Power Surge

Combat revolves around two resources:

  • Sha-Chi is a meter you need to protect. Blocking attacks drains it, and if it runs out you can be staggered and left open. Parrying perfectly, dodging and landing blows wears down your opponent's Sha-Chi instead.
  • Sha-Chi Essence builds up as you land attacks. When it's full, a Power Surge (L2) overpowers your opponent and interrupts their attacks.

In other words, blocking alone loses the fight slowly, while parrying and staying aggressive wins it. For short definitions of these terms, see the Glossary.

Building your setup

The developer's August 2026 overview mentions a few more systems around your weapons:

  • Accessories can be paired with weapons to shape your setup.
  • Reforging lets you rework a weapon, and you can get the materials back. Trying a different build doesn't permanently cost you.
  • Summons can be used to help in battle.

How these systems work in detail, such as the stats, materials and costs, isn't covered in the official articles. We'll add it once it's verified.

What's coming to this page

  • More named main weapons and Phantom Edges, with Chinese names where official text confirms them
  • Where and how to get each weapon, with sources
  • Which weapons carry over into New Game Plus, once confirmed
